About the Company
Solvatten is a Swedish social enterprise founded by Petra Wadström in 2006, dedicated to providing safe and hot water using a simple, portable solar-powered device. The solution combines solar heating and UV purification to treat 10 liters of water in 2–6 hours, eliminating pathogens and generating hot water up to 75 °C—without chemicals, electricity, or spare parts. Used in over 40 countries with hundreds of thousands of users, Solvatten improves health outcomes, reduces indoor air pollution and fossil fuel use, prevents deforestation, and lowers household energy costs. With impact in refugee camps and slums, and partnerships with NGOs, UN agencies, and corporations, Solvatten addresses health, gender equality, and climate goals . The product’s durability (lasting 7–10 years) delivers substantial emissions reduction—up to 10 tonnes CO₂ saved per unit—and empowers women and girls by reducing time spent collecting fuel and water.
