Product description

Showerkap is a pioneering climate tech company - reducing consumption in water, energy and carbon emissions through an innovative shower valve with physical behavioural cue, sensors that deliver detailed data analytics for smart management via the cloud system and an interactive mobile application for individual users.

Our vision is to change people’s relationship with water and empower both users and organisations to create a lasting impact on the environment and its communities.

We are facing unprecedented water shortages in the UK and globally. Recent hot weather and lack of rain is driving this problem even further. We cannot sustain how we use water moving forward, we are living beyond our means and we must reimagine our relationship with water to protect and safeguard it for future generations.
How can we save water if we can’t measure it effectively? This is where Showerkap’s IoT devices and WL helps, we can deliver valuable insights that were previously hidden with our sensors, enabling businesses to reduce water and energy waste. We also combine our technology with behavioural science using our patented technology, gently reducing shower temperatures to create a subtle behavioural cue and nudges, whilst allowing the user complete control over time and fade, empowering and engaging individuals to make better choices.

We are partnering with some of the largest users of water, the hotel and university industry, to help address and combat water scarcity. The hospitality industry alone can use up to 8 times more than their local community. Sandman Signature London Gatwick Hotel is one of our forward thinking partners, and the first UK hotel to adopt our new technology, we both hope with such encouraging results that many more in the industry will follow suit and be proactive in their water and energy conservation.

About the Company

Showerkap Ltd is a UK-based greentech startup founded in 2022 by engineer Steve Harding, on a mission to revolutionise the relationship organisations have with water and energy. Combining innovative hardware and behavioural science, their system seamlessly integrates a patented valve, smart flow sensors, cloud platform and user-friendly mobile/web dashboard. The technology empowers hotels, universities and facilities to monitor granular data on water volume, temperature, duration, CO₂ emissions and cost. By nudging users—through gentle temperature drops that signal it’s time to finish—and providing insights via dashboards, Showerkap encourages shorter, more sustainable showers. This retrofit solution not only drives substantial operational savings and carbon reductions but also fosters long-term behaviour change without imposing restrictions. With early deployments across UK hotels and higher education, Showerkap is demonstrating how simple, data-driven nudges can deliver measurable environmental impact, align with net-zero goals, and support sustainable stewardship—all while making every drop count.
