AWG- Atmospheric Water Generators
The world's most overlooked water source isn't underground.
It's above your head.
As climate change, drought and pollution place unprecedented pressure on traditional water supplies, we need to rethink where our water will come from.
What many people don't realise is that Earth's atmosphere contains trillions of litres of water at any given moment, continuously replenished (every 8-9 days) through the natural water cycle.
Atmospheric Water Generators (AWGs) unlock this invisible resource, extracting moisture from the air and transforming it into clean, safe drinking water—without relying on rivers, reservoirs, groundwater or rainfall.

GENAQ Technologies
ES
GENAQ Technologies is a Spanish manufacturer that has been producing atmospheric water generators since 2008, now on its fourth product generation. Part of the Keyter Group — an industrial group with more than 30 years in HVAC and refrigeration — GENAQ makes drinking water by condensing humidity from ambient air using a thermodynamic refrigeration cycle with advanced electronic control and IoT monitoring. Units are designed and built in-house, operate on grid power, solar, wind or diesel, and produce mineralised drinking water through a triple filtration and treatment system, even in arid or polluted environments.
Key strengths
• Proven and deployed. GENAQ reports units operating in more than 60 countries, including US Army bases, a solar-powered school supply in Fiji, projects in Djibouti, Morocco and Malaysia, and water generation at the Qatar World Cup.
• Independently certified. Production capacity is certified by TÜV Rheinland across different temperature and humidity conditions, and water quality is tested and certified by ENAC, Spain's national accreditation body.
• Industrial parentage. In-house design and manufacturing through the Keyter Group's 30+ years of refrigeration engineering.
• Full range. Solutions from a domestic dispenser through to large-scale bottling plants, including a French project designed to bottle up to 50,000 litres/day.
• Wide operating envelope. GENAQ states its generators work in arid climates above 50°C and below 20% relative humidity.
Business model
GENAQ designs, manufactures and sells its own generators outright, with customisation for specific needs and large-scale custom plants. It serves commercial and residential customers (Stratus dispensers), industrial sites (Nimbus), emergency, humanitarian and defence users (Cumulus), and large-scale water supply or bottling (AWGplant), supported by an international partner and distribution network.

AirJoule Technologies
US
AirJoule Technologies is a US climate-technology company turning the atmosphere into a continuous water resource. Its platform uses metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) — the material class recognised by the 2025 Nobel Prize in Chemistry — to capture water vapour from ambient air and produce pure, PFAS-free distilled water. A dual-chamber design keeps production continuous: one chamber captures moisture while the other releases it. AirJoule is scaling toward commercial deployment through partnerships with BASF, GE Vernova and Carrier Global Corporation, and its technology has been recognised by the US Department of Energy.
Key strengths
The defining feature is energy efficiency. Rather than relying on external power, the system recycles the heat of its own capture cycle — an approach the company describes as close to thermally neutral. The US Department of Energy has stated the technology uses up to 75% less electricity than conventional dehumidification and the lowest energy per litre of any competing technology developed to date.
In pilot tests, AirJoule reports energy savings of more than 10x versus alternative atmospheric water harvesting systems in arid conditions. The platform is refrigerant-free, works in both humid and dry climates, and produces dehumidified dry air as a useful by-product for cooling and HVAC systems.
How it works commercially
AirJoule sells integrated water-generation units, designed for industrial and commercial users — data centres, advanced manufacturing, agriculture and moisture control — where available waste heat keeps running costs low. The company has set out a longer-term ambition to reach consumers as well, though its current products are industrial in scale.
Flagship models
• AirJoule Core — up to 250 litres/day of distilled water; holds indoor humidity as low as 30% RH; semi-automated.
• AirJoule Prime — up to 2,000 litres/day; optimised for waste-heat systems; semi-automated.

Akvo Pod
IN
Akvo Atmospheric Water Systems Pvt. Ltd. is an India-registered clean-technology company, founded in 2016 in Kolkata and one of India's largest and first indigenous manufacturers of atmospheric water generators (AWG). Akvo designs and builds a full range of AWG systems that produce purified, mineral-rich drinking water directly from air humidity — no groundwater, no pipelines, no plastic. By simulating the dew point, Akvo replicates nature's own process of condensation to generate water continuously, then purifies it through a multi-layer filtration train free of chemicals, microplastics and contamination.
Akvo systems are plug-and-play, IoT-enabled for remote monitoring, and built for a 10–15 year operating life. They are designed for warm, humid climates and run on grid, generator or — in the solar-powered Helios line — fully off-grid. From homes and offices to municipalities, communities, industry and emergency response, Akvo's mission is to put water independence directly in the hands of those who need it.
Key strengths
• Water from air with no external source — condensation plus multi-layer purification for mineral-rich drinking water
• Broad, proven product range from residential dispensers to industrial and solar off-grid units
• IoT-enabled remote monitoring of production and performance
• Antimicrobial multi-stage air filtration; hot, cold and ambient dispensing
• Low operating cost and low power draw per litre
• Strong real-world track record — 200+ machines deployed across India and the Gulf, including 44+ units at the Qatar FIFA World Cup 2022 stadium, SEWA (Sharjah), DP World Dubai, NTPC, Indian Oil (Haldia) and Greater Chennai Corporation
• Aligns with SDG and ESG goals through zero groundwater extraction and reduced plastic dependence
Business model
Outright purchase, or Water on Want (WOW) pay-as-you-use — clients own no hardware and pay only for the water they consume, like a utility bill, with all maintenance, filter changes and servicing included.
Flagship models
• Akvo Water Block Mini (55K) — up to 150 L/day; workspaces, retail, clinics, hospitality; dispenser included
• Akvo Water Block — up to 500 L/day per unit; modular and stackable for community, campus and industrial demand
• Akvo Helios — fully solar-powered AWG for true off-grid deployment
• Capacity line — 36K (100 L/day), 55K (150 L/day), 110K (300 L/day), 180K (500 L/day), 365K (1,000 L/day), plus custom builds
