What I specialize in
Decarbonized power generation and the commercial side of the energy transition. For more than twenty years I have brought power generation projects to life with my teams, more than 11 GW across gas, wind, solar, hydro and geothermal, including more than 25 wind farms. At GE Vernova I built and led the Middle East and Africa decarbonization business: carbon capture, hydrogen, direct air capture and low-carbon fuels. In 2023 I served as Senior Energy Advisor to the COP28 Presidency. Today, through Qasirga Advisory, I advise governments, utilities, developers and industrial companies on net-zero roadmaps, low carbon fuels, biofuels, SAF, carbon capture, direct air capture, project bankability and the energy demand of AI. I am the author of Megawatts, Not Tokens: AI, Energy and Sustainability.
Previous projects
Net Zero Teesside in the UK, the world's first combined cycle gas power plant integrated with carbon capture and storage, where my team secured an order intake above 1 billion USD. The first hydrogen and carbon capture FEED studies in Saudi Arabia. The NEOM decarbonization tender. Decarbonization agreements with Qatar Energy, ADNOC, Aramco, Emirates Global Aluminum and Saudi Electricity Company. At COP28 in Dubai I contributed to the global pledge to triple renewable power and double the rate of energy efficiency improvement by 2030, and helped coordinate and compile the report behind it.
