Project Background

Emissiv is an in-development, transparent, super-hydrophobic coating that passively cools surfaces in daylight—reflecting solar heat and radiating infrared to the cold sky—so buildings and equipment run cooler without altering aesthetics. Early company figures indicate ~5 °C lower surface temperatures, ~20% estimated energy savings, and large-scale CO₂-reduction potential, pending field validation. Ideal where appearance matters (glass, façades, painted metal) and where cutting HVAC load, heat-stress, and maintenance is a priority.

Project Status and Key Milestones

Early-stage, pre-commercial. Developing a transparent, super-hydrophobic radiative-cooling coating;

Key milestones (2025)

  • 28 May: EMISSIV LTD incorporated (UK).

  • Founded at Imperial College London’s Molecular Sciences Research Hub (Scale Space, White City).

  • Hult Prize (Imperial) campus qualifiers – winner.

  • Imperial Climate Pre-Accelerator Demo Day – 1st place.

  • Selected to Undaunted – The Greenhouse, Cohort 8 (12-month accelerator).

What is your Vision for the Future?

We want to turn a university-born material into a category-defining business. Our goal is to prove undeniable product–market fit, starting with lighthouse pilots that generate independent data, specs, and warranties. We want to become the default “invisible cooling layer” for hot surfaces everywhere.

Looking for

We’re looking for aligned partners and real-world opportunities, credible validation, the capacity to scale, access to markets, strategic funding, exceptional people, visibility and trust, and enabling policy pathways—in short, the relationships, resources, and recognition to move from promise to widespread impact.

About the Team

Emissiv is led by co-founders Sandra Go (CEO, CleanTech @ Imperial) and Nikhil Dawda (CTO, Energy Futures @ Imperial), with advisors Dr Andreas Kafizas, Dr Brian Tam, Lin Zhipeng, Kate Martin, and mentor Roujia Wen. Founded 2025, based at Imperial’s Molecular Sciences Research Hub (Scale Space, White City). Early milestones: Hult Prize qualifiers, Imperial Climate Pre-Accelerator Demo Day winner, and Undaunted Greenhouse Cohort 8.
